Providing temporary access in food processing areas presents a number of challenges for contractors and clients alike. There is an obvious need for continuity of production whilst managing the risk of contamination and providing a safe working environment.
Typical temporary access methods utilise timber or steel decking, both of which are potential sources of contamination, creating more problems than they solve. Wrapping decking in polyethylene sheeting carries its own problems that result in delays and further potential for contamination.
Timber scaffold boards invariably have splinters that can cause hand injuries, whilst the natural grain can harbour contamination and hamper cleaning.
